Dark southern hemisphere skies, wide horizons

The Central Wheatbelt in Western Australia is known for its wide, open and flat horizons, as well as its dark skies. Located approximately 150km from the city of Perth, this dark sky location remains accessible for planned servicing and support.

If you are looking to provide 24 hour coverage of the southern hemisphere night sky then having infrastructure located in Western Australia is extremely beneficial. Our geographical location is well situated in the southern hemisphere, longitudinally between the more populated eastern Australia and South Africa.

Our purpose built observatory maximises the available horizons while maintaining practical operating heights, protection from the elements, security, and a professional remote operation environment.

Since 2018 AOWA has developed its fully owned site, operating practices and customer support around the real requirements of hosted equipment. Independent ownership supports continuity, efficient improvement and long-term reliability.

AOWA's remote hosting service is built around practical operation, planned maintenance and long-term customer support. Each installation is discussed around the customer's equipment, access needs and observing goals.

Our customers value their anonymity, privacy and continuity of operation. Access to the hosted telescope facility is strictly limited, internal details are kept private, and security oriented design features with 24x7 monitoring help protect customer equipment.
